Virtual Reality (VR) is a three-dimensional world in which communities of real people communicate, create items, services, and content to produce economic value through e-commerce by simulating real world through computer graphics.Virtual Reality (VR) is a collection of technological devices: “a computer with a head-mounted display and data gloves equipped with one or more position trackers capable of interactive 3D visualization”.
VR was a term used by Jaron Lanier (1987) for the first time. In Recent Years, Virtual Reality (VR) has been creating both confusion and excitement. In early 1990’s, first healthcare application of VR started for surgical planning (Chinnock, 1994) which helps medical staff to visualize complex data during surgery. Healthcare Professionals (Riva, 2002) had unrealistic views about these factors which were published in both scientific and popular press.
VR Generally consists of tracker which sense the position and orientation of the user and report the information to a computer which updates in real time to display images. Today VR is finding use in various industries and even in health care. Check our presentation to have an idea about multitude of use cases.
