PMB is an Integrated Library System named PhpMyBibli at its beginning . PMB (PhpMyBibli) is a fully featured open source web-based integrated library system , developed in French. PMB is based on web technology. PMB requires an HTTP server (such as Apache, but this is not an obligation), the MySQL database and the PHP language.. PMB can be hosted on Windows, MacOSX or Linux computer. PMB provides the following modules catalouging, (UNIMARC import, Z39.50 connector), circulation , acquisitions, Serials Management ,Administration and Reporting. OPAC with Simple or Advanced search, category browsing, RSS feeds. The project was initiated by François Lemarchand in October 2002, Director of the Public Library of Agneaux; it is now maintained by PMB Services (a French Company). Translation in general refers to converting a text or phrase from an unknown language to a familiar language. PMB was devevoled in French so it will be difficult for the users to understand the working of PMB who doen’t knows French. This issue can be solved by applying translation. This Blog may provide the information about the Translation of PMB to English. PMB Opac Translation is carried out with the help of Google Translator. For doing this the French words in following files and database tables are translated from French to English. The main aim of this translation process is to increase readability , and for management of the PMB software.
Steps to translate PMB OPAC from French to English
PMB Opac transaltion can be done by translating the related files and database table fields.Related files and tables are listed below. The Following files and tables are translated using google translator. The following changes may be applied to files and database for translating Opac from French to English.
Files to be translated
PMB specifies the name of the directory where PMB software files are located .

Update the default Language specified in this file from French to English(en_UK) .

Translate the French words in this files to English .

Translate the French Words to English .

Table Translation
Default Values are inserted to PMB database during installation process. These values will in French Format so we have to translate that values to English. This can be done in two methods.
Method 1:
Before the running the table installation script convert the French Values to English. The file to be changes are listed below
Directory : PMB/tables/en/

- File : minimum.sql
Method 2:
If the Default values are inserted to PMB database we have to manually edit the table values. Tables are listed below.

Note :
In parameter table values in comment_param field has to be translated and have to Update the default Language in OPAC section to en_UK. In Users Table the Default Language has to be Updated to en_UK.
